Put a face to the name, the legend and incidentally....
i-Motor's Fastest GoKart Driver.
What inspired you to pursue a career in Automotive and Website Development?
As a kid, I was always surrounded by cars, either my dad, my brother or my older cousins. I have also been surrounded by technology and growing up at the peak of the internet era, my interest in website development came naturally. Joining i-Motor was a mixture of two of the things I love - so it was a no-brainer for me to pursue my career in this space.
Can you share a memorable experience or achievement from your time working at i-Motor?
One of my most memorable experiences would be when Tony Malby-Luke, Michael Dudley-Bray and myself battled it out on the Go-Kart track. Mike took the 1st position and Tony beat me by a tenth of a second for 2nd place. However, during my next run, I was able to redeem that title for myself, ticking in 1st in the group and 10th in the best time set for the week at the location.
When I began at i-Motor I was taken under the wing by Tony & Narelle for the 4 years I have been in the company and then more recently with Robert Thorp. They have all been great professional mentors, and have always seen the potential in me, that I would not have seen myself. They’ve all helped me get to where I am today, looking after both offices in Melbourne and Sydney and continuously looking to improve our processes within the team and the wider the company.
What do you enjoy most about your role at i-Motor.
I love working with the people around me. Such a great team and everyday we are continuously trying to solve new problems, improve processes for efficiency and satisfy our customers. I love the culture we have created in the workplace and how close we all have become over the years.
Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests? What's your "Happy Place"?
When I'm not in work mode, my interests include playing around with cars, however, that has slowed down the older I got. I also love my music, - and any chance I get, you’ll find me listening to RnB or HipHop as it helps me be more productive in the tasks I’m doing. Lastly, and very importantly, just hanging out with the family and my wife doing things together also tops my list of favourite things to do.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I have yet to go to Japan! Japan is on my bucket list and has been for a very long time – as it ties into my love for automotive (especially the JDM scene). Being a bit of a “Gadget Geek” Japan excites with being so technology-driven. I can’t get enough of new cool gadgets. Oh, and need I say it? The FOOD!
Is there a fun fact or hidden talent about yourself that you'd like to share with our customers?
I don’t have any hidden talent unfortunately. A little fact (maybe not so much fun), I work a second job casually at Repco, which is an Automotive Parts store. As you can see, my life revolves around Automotive.
Do you have a book, TV program or Movie you’d really recommend and why?
If you haven’t seen Freedom Writers, that is a great movie to watch! It is inspiring, shows humility and empathy (or perspective) and how we can apply it to our everyday lives. I loved the main character/teacher’s commitment to help the “at-risk” students and help them discover their inner strength.
